Trying something new~

I wanted to share some fun I had with the Calligraphy Guild last weekend. We had to make paper paste for a fundraiser for our Guild. I signed up not knowing what I was getting into except to volunteer. It turned out to be wonderful and I learned so much from a terrifically fun bunch of women! Paper Paste is layers of paint on paper, starting with a light layer and building up to a final layer that shows through to the first. Some very talented ladies showed us some fun techniques. We even stamped and used pastels to make our "art" come alive. It took all day and we still have to go back later and add the last layer to our pieces. Take a look at some of the beautiful paper art.

Yeah, I won on the Spellbinders newest contest!!!

I still can't believe I won! I have been entering all the Spellbinders contests for over a year. And TODAY, I won for day 10, over 12 new nestibilities! I am so doing a happy dance! Tomorrow is the last day to enter. So, go and put your name in the hat! Who knows who will win next!

Crazy for Tim Holtz tags!

I just started taking classes at our scrapbook store who loves Tim Holtz stuff, as much as I do. Last weekend it was Christmas in July and we made 6 of his special tags. Of course I was late, not only that the teacher noticed too and called me by name. But, it was okay, I just had to play catch up and boy did I. I sat with 3 wonderful ladies, and they helped me get caught up and we had fun! See there is a reason why I needed to be late, if not I might not of met them. Anyway, we were learning some fun techniques, blending, stamping, embossing, and using alcohol inks. It was turning into some very spectacular works of art if I do say so myself. Everyone worked on the same thing, but no two were alike. There are some very talented ladies in this class. I had so much fun and I won a great door prize too~

Lets get motivated! Start with you.

Everyday, we think, I will get to that, but we don't. Why do we put that thought in our heads when we know it won't happen. Guilt, things piling up, or just too many irons in the fire? All of the above, but we need to start somewhere. I decided to listen to my doctor and go for a walk. First, I need to do it, and by the time I am done I feel better. Then, I can sort out my day to make it work for me. I feel that way with about stamping, I need to take a walk from it and then come back and it all makes sense! I was just telling a friend that I start cleaning my stamp room when I feel overwhelmed, but now I see that is just a way to come up with ideas. Like finding a treasure box of things I haven't even used. Then, the light comes on and I use something I found in the cleaning process. I know you understand all this, so give me some tips on how you find inspiration, when it seems there is none to be found.
Have a great day!

My family means the most to me!

It's holidays like today that make you wonder, "what will the future hold for us?". I have been a military wife for so long that this holiday stands out the most. Celebrating our freedom, for those serving and have served our wonderful country. It also makes me think of my family so far away, and all the holidays I have missed with them. I miss everyone talking at once, more food than we know what to do with. But mostly I miss the hugs goodbye and promising to keep in touch better. So, on this holiday for our freedom, keep your promises to your family and stay in touch, write, send pictures and most of all say how much you love them. You never know when you will see them again. Happy 4th of July!

It is a wonderful year to have a birthday!

I know I said I was going to keep this going, but I am back now!
I just wanted to thank all my friends for sharing my birthday with me. First, I was not feeling well, and my friend had planned a surprise Bunco birthday party for me. I was so sorry to miss it...then, she planned another surprise at our monthly stamping at a friends, with cake and cards from everyone!!! Imagine my surprise at missing one surprise and getting another. But the fun did not stop there... She planned another surprise at the Not going to seminar stamping day, more cards and cake! I even had a crown to wear and all. Talk about glad I missed seminar this year, well it was well worth it. To sum it all up, Dawn took me to lunch and more presents! I was so overwhelmed by it all...so glad we are friends!
