So sorry, tried to get this turned around, must be something I am doing when I save it in my photos. But now you can see how it turned out. I love butterflies, and working with misters and Twinkling H2o's is so much fun, you never know what you are going to get in the end!

sneak peak at calendar page

I volunteered again for the calendar that Gloria puts on each year with all the Red Hots from the The Angel Company . I am not a Red Hot under my friend Yuki, but I consider myself an honorary member by always wanting to be one....if you think it, it will come, so far so good!
This is my first step in getting my page together.  The butterflies  are from stamp set, Happily Grateful, I colored them with Twinkling H20's. The background is done with misters made from distress reinkers and perfect pearls, my favorite technique so far!  I used 3 different blues for the top and 2 greens and a gold for the bottom. I will show you the whole project when they are revealed at the Red Hot Christmas party this Friday! Stay tuned!!!

Embrace Imperfection

This is a swap that I signed up to do for the Totally Tim Class at Scrapbook 911.  We had to create something that embraced our imperfection.  I thought about it and I love all the gear stuff we have worked with in past classes, so I embraced it and went with all the techniques I have learned so far, well that would fit on a 4x4 card front.  So let me know what you think of this idea! I love seeing how much I could fit in this small space.....sorry tried to rotate image twice, I guess it will stay on its side!

Halloweenie Flower

Getting in the spirit of Halloween, Dawn and I made some cute flowers.  This is made from the Tim Holtz die and a Sizzix flower.  Lots of layers and fun fabric held together with a brad and topped with a little button with scrap floss.  You can easily make these for every occasion, or to dress up your shirts and sweaters. Try one today and make for gifts!

SpookTrackular

http://www.txtransportationmuseum.org/HS.htm
Talk about a fun weekend, well we had a great one!  This was taken at the Texas Transportation Museum in San Antonio TX.  If you get a chance to go there, stop by to see all the old cars, I even was able to ride in the 1920 something Firetruck and it was fast, and no seat belts! This is a great place to bring the family or a school group, so many things to see.  We rode the train, had a haunted hayride and met some very nice families bringing their children to trick or treat last weekend~

For more pictures go to the Shutterfly link on the right column and see the Pullman where I volunteered all SPOOKED OUT!  It was a lot of fun! See you next year.....

This is celebrate the changing seasons, I used Rubbernecker leaves stamps, Distress reinkers on cut and dry pad to get these wonderful leaves, background is Distess reinkers with Perfect pearls. Also, Tim Holtz postmark stamp, this was so much fun I had to share with my friends!

Hope you enjoy your Fall weather where ever you happen to be.

Swapping?

My friend Yuki, decided to host a swap for angels and friends. I love to swap. We had to do a card front idea using the new stamps that came out in July. Loving the new vintage stamps, I jumped in and started creating. Well, my creating takes a long time to do. I knew my mom would love to have a vintage card, with that in mind it made it easier to come up with the colors and design. She just received this card for her birthday this week. Happy Birthday Mom!  I love you, hope your birthday was extra special.
For the Vintage Fairy, I used Twinkling H2O's to color her wings and coat. The background was done using misters and Tim Holtz distress inks and Perfect pearls.  I used Tim Holtz alcohol inks to age the beads. This is a cool effect to age anything. Hope you like the card swap!

Collage class at the Calligraphy Guild

This was very intimidating at first, just having to come up with all the inchies to make this collage, but as you start to create it in class, you see everyone is in the same box. So, first you have a grid on watercolor paper, that helps you to get it in line, but you have to number your squares just in case you want to make any changes before you glue them down!  Some of the supplies are, paint markers, gel pens, acrylic dabbers. stamps, punches, metal foil, embossing folders, pattern and solid cardstock, and your inspiration! Really, there is no set way to do this, so many mediums were used in making the collages. I had so much fun and did not even know what I was doing to get there....sorry this is a side view, could not get it right side up!

Well isn't this a fun stop?

Yes, back to letterboxing, and a fun place to stop and see what was here. Now this stop was on the way back roads of Texas.  I was going to the Bat Caves, but realize I had wandered to a letterbox site on the way, talk about luck~ So, if you like this one, let me know, I will tell you a secret on how to find it! Thanks for stopping by....

Stop and smell the flowers!

Have you ever just wanted to stop and sit to watch the flowers grow? This is the place to do it, especially as our days grow cooler. Take a trip up to Fredericksburg and see the Wildseed farm. I went last month and it was hot, but you can't tell it from this picture! wildseedfarms.com

A thing of the past...

In the middle of town you see this! A normal Texas feature usually seen on farms and in small towns. I took this at sundown, pretty yet functional for water or electricity.  Now, its just vintage art.

My long lost friend from Washington!

I have been playing catch up with pictures since my computer has been rebuilt by a wonderful IT guy! So, I decided to go back and forth in time and see as many of them as I can.  This was taken last Oct, and I met her in Austin on her layover from Seattle. It wasn't nearly long enough, but we went for a long walk on Lady Bird lake, nice fall weather and beautiful leaves that we both thought just made the walk that much prettier!  We haven't seen each other in years, but it seems just like yesterday when we met for the first time in Bitburg, Germany in the basement of our apartment complex.  Those were the days, huh Jen? I so miss traveling together with our Volksmarch group of friends. Well at least our friendship will always endure the tests of time!

Here I caught her taking pictures of the changing colors of the leaves.

An older tag from TT class, it was a fun tag, lots of techniques to do to get this look! I still have trouble with the snow cap dabber, its the first generation and it doesn't work as well as the new formula, just did not want to buy anther one yet.  So my stamped image just fades instead of pops! I love how we used two colors of the dabbers and got this unique antique look to the bird in flight.  First we used the aqua or pool, I used them both to get that shaded look. Then after that dried, we applied the espresso to the whole bird, but I did not like it quite so dark, so I only hit the areas you see here with espresso to give it the depth of colors. Then to make some shimmer, I smeared some antique linen stickles to the whole bird!

Totally Tim Tags update!

Here is one of the tags we did in our class with Jennie and Carrie! We always have fun and learn something new.  Plus we can always tweak the main idea and we do!  It is a very creative class for all who come. Don't you just love the gear die!

Going to Luchenbach Texas anyone?

This isn't a sight you see everyday! Just wanted to share another photo from my travels. This was taken on the same weekend as the one from Fredricksburg.  And another red letter letterboxing day. This one was a hard one to get to with all the visitors milling around.  But this was the first thing I saw coming into Luchenbach. The general store and old post office, was a treat, just like walking back in time. I bought my postcards and asked the man ringing up my order if he could mail them for me, he winked and said we haven't been an official post office for over 30 years, but for a purty gal like you I will send them off for you! He was quite a character and I can see why he still works there after all these years. Also, if you are looking for an air conditioned place to stop and rest, well there isn't any here! And it was very hot. They really sold allot of beer when I stopped at the bar to listen to some good old country music. Hanging from the bar ceiling were boots from Waylon and Willie! It was so much fun to drive all the back roads of Texas. You never know when something will catch your eye and have to stop to see what is there.

This is a card front for a gift tag. I made this for a friends birthday. This is done with Tim Holtz products and techniques. I love all his stuff and need to really buget this time on all the buying sprees! I also used Sizzix folder, distress misters with very pretty shimmers. I hope you like it, let me know!

Quick getaway to Fredricksburg Texas~

I have to tell you that this is the coolest place around! I actually decided to get away and spend some time on my own and did I mention Letterboxing too! Well, you can't go here and not pick up some wonderful carves!  I did find some of my favorite carvers here and so glad I came, even if the humidity almost did me in.
It is so pretty here and so many friendly people to talk to.  The visitors center is great for finding new and old places to discover. The man in charge was very helpful and tried to get me to go to some new wineries. I did find one I really liked, will go back there next time I am in town. This picture is from Main street and just called to me. I thought is was a great gate, but the vines really made the picture, don't you think? More to come in the next few days....stay tuned!

I have been Letterboxing lately!

Yes we are in a cemetary! It is a popular place to hide a your letterbox! This is one of our first outings and it was so much fun! Our little group was started by a mutual friend, Bonnie, she has been letterboxing for a long time and showed us the ropes. If you are interested in doing this with a group, family or on your own check out the website below. I am now up to 80 finds and working on my first plant, that is lingo for I found 80 letterboxes and working on carving my first stamp hide so others can find it later.  My trail name is Rho's Place and would love for you to take a peek at letterboxing if you get a moment!  It's a chance to get out and have a day of hunting for buried treasure.  Let me know what you think of this.
Thank you for stopping by,

Calendar page for a friends swap....

Okay, I am on a roll tonight! Should be doing my list for supplies for my class, but had to post this one. This is my submission for a friends calendar page. I did it for August. Wanted that very hot feeling for all of us in Texas! So, I started with several shades of red and yellow, then a touch of gold alcohol inks,  to give it that summer shimmer look.  Now if you have worked with alcohol inks on glossy paper, you know that no two projects look alike.  Everyone you do will be unique, I did 14 for this swap. That being said, it was hard to choose one to keep for myself.  The next step is using black Stazon ink to stamp all the flowers and butterflies, using only The Angel Company Stamps.  Again, now two will look alike, so don't try to make it look symetrical, it only messes your project up.  Now, the border is done with black cardstock and the punch is by Martha Stewart. I hope you enjoy this calendar page, I know I had fun doing it!  Thank you for looking,
Rhodeen

Another Tim Holtz idea

Hi Everyone,
It sure takes me awhile to post. I don't have any excuses, well maybe one.  I have a hard time downloading my pictures.  If anyone knows why, please let me know.  The last two times, it froze up my computer and I lost all the pictures I searched for many hours and much frustration!  Okay, this is an old one,  but new to the Totally Tim class I was taking at the time, I was having fun experimenting.  Hope you like it. Let me know, okay.  Until next time....well sooner than later! LOL

Trying to get back on track!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry it's been so long. Things come up in our lives and makes it a slow progress to get our priorities in order.  I have taken a few fun classes with a technique club.  We make Tim Holtz tags once a month and they are really something wonderful!  Every month we try new products and learn some really cool techniques.  Here are a couple of unique tags....enjoy!
